Make a Profile Banner
Upload a landscape image that other users can apply as their profile background. Once approved it appears in the Marketplace and on your profile Showcase.
Art standards: please read before you submit
- We only accept high-quality, anime-style digital art. Every banner is reviewed by hand, and we turn down work that doesn't meet the standard.
- What we look for: clean, confident linework; fully coloured and shaded (cel-shaded or painted both work); consistent anatomy and proportions; a finished look with no stray sketch lines or empty areas, and backgrounds with real depth and lighting.
- Not accepted: semi-realistic or realistic styles, even with anime features.
- Not accepted: traditional art (pencil, ink, paint or marker on paper), including scans or photos of it. Digital work only.
- Not accepted: plain line art, flat uncoloured sketches, or unfinished pieces.
- A rejection isn't a verdict on you. It means this piece isn't ready yet. You'll get a note on what held it back. Use it, keep practising, and submit again. Plenty of great artists were turned down before they got in.
Image requirements
- Banners must be your original artwork — no AI-generated images, traced work, or assets you don't own rights to.
- Recommended size: 1920×480 px (4:1 wide landscape). Minimum 1400×400 px. Larger is fine — anything wider than 1920 px is automatically scaled down to 1920 px on upload.
- PNG, JPG or WebP, under 8 MB.
- Banners span the full width of the window, so the crop changes with screen size — keep anything essential inside the middle 80% of the height, and away from the far left and right edges. On a wide monitor the top and bottom are trimmed; on a phone the sides are.
- A banner is a backdrop, not a display piece: it sits behind the profile or story header, softly blurred and darkened towards the bottom. Bold shapes and colour read well; fine linework and small text do not.
Donate first, then sell
- Your first banner goes into the free randomizer. Any reader can win it for a few Embers, forever. It's the best advert your work can get — and donating one unlocks selling banners and taking banner commissions.
- After that, set a price between 100 and 3,000 Quills (100 Quills is about $1). Most banners sit around 300.
- Your own work: you keep 75% of every sale.
- Made for someone else's novel: pick the novel below. Its author has to approve it first, then you keep 55% and the author gets 20%. DawnScribe keeps 25% either way.
- Earnings are tracked in real money and appear on your Payouts page.
Content rules
- Allowed: dark, moody and dramatic work. A wounded or bloodied character is fine, and so is suggestive or sensual art.
- Not allowed: graphic gore — dismemberment, mutilation, or blood as the subject rather than the mood.
- Not allowed: explicit or erotic content, nudity, or anything sexualising a character who reads as a minor.
- Not allowed: hateful imagery, real-world slurs or symbols, or harassment of a real person.
- If you're unsure whether a piece crosses the line, submit it — a reviewer will tell you rather than penalise you.
Review
- Every banner is reviewed before it goes live (typically 3–5 days).
- If it's declined you'll get a reason, and you can edit and resubmit the same draft.
